"The aim of this Master Thesis is to proof under which conditions Flow Duration Curves for an ungauged basin can be determined by regionalisation of Flow Duration Curves from other gauged basins in the neighbourhood, and to elaborate the range of deviations between the determined and the observed Flow Duration Curves. Thus the accuracy for the calculation of the nominal power and of the yearly energy yield for a proposed Hydro Power Plant shall be increased. The evaluation is carried out based on data of gauged and ungauged basins located in the southern part of Styria by the determination of certain quantiles, one time by applying the method of 'Process based Multi-Regression' to properties of the chosen basins and a second time by simulating the 'Transfer of Discharge Measurements' from a gauged to an ungauged basin. By taking care on the prerequisites both methods deliver similar and very good results. The main requirement for this is a high level of similarity regarding the climatic conditions and the process relevant properties across the chosen basins. The contribution of the properties to the best regression models are found through the selection of similar basins, sensitivity analyses across certain basin properties and cross-validations of possible regression models. By applying the best regression models the calculated results across all chosen basins show deviations of less than 18% for the q17, which is seen as relevant for the calculation of the nominal power of a Hydro Power Plant, and deviations of in average less than 30% for the yearly energy yield. Similar results are achieved by applying the transfer of discharge measurements."
