Man hat in den Schulbüchern aus dem Jahr 1976 das Rechnen mit den Kongruenzen und Restklassen verbindlich vorgeschrieben, jedoch findet die Zahlentheorie, die Gauß als die "Königin der Mathematik" bezeichnete, in den aktuellen Lehrplänen nur noch kaum Berücksichtigung.<br />Das ist schade, denn ein großer Vorteil der elementaren Zahlentheorie besteht darin, dass viele Fragestellungen sehr allgemein verständlich formuliert werden können und deshalb sofort auf das Interesse der Schüler stoßen. In der Arbeit geht es nun darum, gewisse Themen der Zahlentheorie für Schüler zugänglich zu machen und dadurch den Unterricht in den Klassen aufzulockern. Es werden nicht nur Schüler adäquate Sätze und Beweise vorgestellt, sondern auch motivierende Beispiele für alle Schulstufen.<br />Das zum Beispiel 1978 veröffentlichte RSA-Verfahren beruht zum Großteil auf Sätzen der Zahlentheorie, welche durchaus in der Schule gebracht werden können. Mit diesem Verfahren, welches heute aus dem Alltagsleben nicht mehr wegzudenken ist, hätte man eine Anwendung des abstrakten Stoffes gefunden, dessen Sinn die Schüler oft hinterfragen. Die Arbeit behandelt nun ausführlich welche der einzelnen Kapitel der Zahlentheorie in einer Schule möglich sind und bei welchen man an die Grenzen der Schulmathematik stößt. Manche der Themen, wie zum Beispiel die Primzahltests, lassen sich ohne Einsatz eines CAS-Systems nicht realistisch durchführen. Aber genau dieser Umstand macht ja das Thema so faszinierend. Deshalb wurde in dieser Arbeit das CAS-System DERIVE verwendet, welches aufgrund einer Generallizenz für die AHS allgemein zugänglich ist.<br />
