In dem 6015 Einwohner zählenden Markt Kipfenberg soll ein neues Rathaus entstehen. Durch Platzmangel und kostspieligen Renovierungsbedarf kann das alte Gebäude nicht mehr genutzt werden und soll in Wohnungen umgewandelt werden. Für den Neubau bietet sich ein freigewordenes Grundstück am Marktplatz direkt gegenüber an. Geprägt durch die Ritterzeit und den Limes, welcher durch den Ort verlief, hat Kipfenberg geschichtlich viel zu bieten. Noch heute sind Spuren erkennbar und über dem Ort thront die Burg als Relikt vergangener Zeit. Kipfenberg liegt mitten im Altmühltal, ein durch die Urdonau vor Jahrmillionen geformtes Tal, was nicht nur landschaftlich, sondern auch bautechnisch Besonderheiten hervorbrachte. Der wohl prägnanteste vorkommende Bautypus ist das Jurahaus, welches nur in dieser Gegend zu finden ist. Genau darin besteht die Besonderheit, diese immer mehr verfallenden und vergessenen Typen wieder ins Gedächtnis zu holen und somit die Ortsmitte zu stärken. Gepaart wird dies mit den modernen Ansätzen und Strukturen von Gemeindezentren.

A new town hall is to be built in the Markt Kipfenberg, a small Bavarian town with a population of 6.015. Due to a lack of space and high renovation costs, the old town hall can not longer be used and is going to be transformed into apartments. A building site suitable for the new building is located right across the market place. Influenced by the age of chivalry and the Roman boundary line Limes running through the village, Kipfenberg has a lot to offer when it comes to history. Traces are still visible today and the ancient castle towers overlooking the market square is a relict of the past. Kipfenberg is located in the Altmuehl Valley, a valley shaped by the ancient Danube millions of years ago. This not only led to the creation of the characteristic landscape but also some special building techniques. Probably, the most striking building type is the Jurahaus that can only be found there. Therefore, the fascinating aspect about this project is to call these decaying types back to people`s minds and thereby strengthen the center of the village. This aim will be combined with modern concepts and structures of community centers.
