cARGOS is a new business idea targeting the transportation industry. A new technology developed with special cameras and sophisticated software is used to measure the volume of palletized goods in a fraction of a second. The system will be installed on loading docks in warehouses and distribution centers. The primary market is European freight forwarders and logistic companies. The total number of loading docks owned by freight forwarders in EU-27 and therefore the primary market volume is about seven million. In contrast to all the existing technologies currently available in the market, cARGOS enables potential customers to measure all incoming as well as all outgoing freight in distribution centers and warehouses. It provides much more insight and transparency in the freight forwarding business than currently possible. cARGOS's customers are able to check the accurate volume of all incoming freight which enables them to invoice and charge correctly for freight forwarding. They are also able to compare all incoming freight with all outgoing freight. It further helps to ensure that no fragmented deliveries are made. This helps to save costs by reducing penalty payments as well as additional delivery costs. Moreover, cARGOS ensures that theft and smuggle are reduced by disclosing them right when they happen. Another feature that comes with the use of cARGOS is identification of objects whose shape has changed. Which is mainly an indicator that the cargo has been damaged. Again there is a huge cost saving factor involved in recognizing these situations right away at the warehouse. cARGOS is a low risk project offering 45 % return on investment over a four-year-period. The project idea is very innovative and has a huge potential to become standard in the logistics industry.
