Abstract:
In recent years, the IT and telecommunication industries have rapidly changed. The stakeholders have to adjust and adapt themselves abruptly in order to survive in the market. The same as telecommunication equipment vendors, they have to change their strategies to cope with the changes. They cannot survive by just selling the equipments but they have to transform to focus more on providing services. There is one service that has gained attention from IT and telecommunication stakeholders, one that provides an analysis and optimization to networks and services running on the networks; the so-called "Analysis and Optimization". In the meantime, the new evolution for the mobile network generation will happen again. The LTE/4G technology will emerge from 2012 onward. It will also be another new challenge for IT and telecommunication stakeholders, particularly mobile operators and telecommunication equipment vendors. This thesis tries to develop a new product for the Analysis and Optimization service by exploring the methodology to identify the businesses that will emerge when LTE/4G will widely be deployed. I am starting by doing research on the literatures regarding new product developments, opportunity identification, and the technique that can be used to develop a generic model to identify the most proper business to be applied to a new product development for the Analysis and Optimization service. Ultimately, the master document for developing the Analysis and Optimization service should have been created. The outcome is very positive and should be viable in the real business case. Especially, the methodology and evaluation model can be used in general when a new service development for the Analysis and Optimization is required. Nevertheless, the sources of emerging business identification and the rating score input for evaluation model can be optionally used as questionnaires for experts. Moreover, this new Analysis and Optimization service cannot be completed with only the master document developed in this thesis but there are a lot more contributions which are needed from other relevant parties that are involved in this new service development.
