Abstract:

This thesis addresses a simulation of a multiple depth stacker crane, which serves a warehouse aisle. Therefore, a simulation model is designed in Simio, a simulation software, which is also described in detail. The simulation results are interpreted and compared with the results of Dipl. Ing. Michael Eder's analytical approach. The emphasis is especially on flow-rate, number of rearrangements, cycle time, time to put into storage and rearrangement time, which has been determined at varying quantities of ware house rows, levels and different depths, as well as storage workloads. The comparison between analytical and simulated results shows great similarity especially regarding big storage dimensions. Deviations of up to 18% occur with smaller dimensions because of the assumption of trapezoidal velocity proles used in the analytical calculation for shorter transport paths. Furthermore, an overview about the manufacturers and their current devices of stacker cranes is given.
