Nienkerke, I. M. (2013). Resilience in the face of climate change : technologies as solutions and business opportunities in the quest of climate change adaptation [Master Thesis, Technische Universität Wien]. reposiTUm. http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12708/159215
The point of preventing all climate change effects has been passed and even the most drastic greenhouse gas reduction efforts would not spare us from severe impacts. The continuous progression of climate change, along with an accumulation of economic value in geographic risk areas, amplifies losses from natural disasters. All areas of life are affected, hence an array of adaptation measures is needed to 'resilify'. This creates business opportunities (for Siemens). Besides existing technologies, a remarkable potential lies in the modification and development of new resilience solutions. The Resilience Matrix provides a holistic visualization of the correlation between climate change impacts, affected sectors, and relevant adaptation measures.
