Abstract:
Im Rahmen dieser Diplomarbeit wurde das Thema der Einbindung von Auto-ID Modulen in ERP/PPS-Systemen beschrieben und untersucht. Die prinzipielle Fragestellung ist: Warum sind Auto-ID Module in marktverfügbaren ERP/PPS-Systemen zwar in der Regel vorhanden, werden aber nur selten eingesetzt (Kapitel 1). Dabei sollten Expertenbefragungen einen Einblick in das Angebot der ERP-Systemlieferanten und die Anforderungen von Unternehmen geben.<br />Ebenso soll der Einsatz von Middleware in diesem Gebiet gezielt behandelt werden. Die Gründe für den Einsatz von Middleware statt Auto-ID Modulen sollen ebenso aufgezeigt werden, wie allgemeine Probleme bei der Anwendung der automatischen Identifikation.<br />In Kapitel 2 werden, nach einem kurzen Einblick in die theoretischen Grundlagen der automatischen Identifikation und deren Bedeutung für Unternehmen, die Technologien Barcode und RFID detailliert behandelt. Im Anschluss gibt eine Gegenüberstellung beider Techniken Auskunft über deren Vor- und Nachteile. Anwendungsbeispiele für die Einführung von RFID-Systemen geben einen Einblick in die praktische Umsetzung der berührungslosen Identifikation. Im Rahmen von EPC wird die Standardisierung von Produktcodes erläutert, sowie deren Einfluss auf den Austausch von Waren innerhalb von Supply Chains. Der Aufbau und die wichtigsten Grundlagen von ERP-Systemen sowie deren historische Entwicklung geben Aufschluss über die möglichen Ziele der Datenerhebung durch die automatische Identifikation in produzierenden Betrieben.<br />In Kapitel 3 werden die Auto-ID Module der Hersteller SAP und proALPHA mit ihren grundlegenden Funktionalitäten analysiert. Expertengespräche mit Vertretern beider Firmen geben einen Einblick über die Problematik der Auto-ID und den derzeitigen Anwendungen in der Praxis. Um auch den Einsatz von Middleware im Vergleich zu Auto-ID Modulen zu behandeln wurde ebenfalls ein Interview mit dem Geschäftsführer der Firma Barcotec geführt. Ein Lokalaugenschein bei der Firma Rathgeber, welche Barcodes für die automatische Identifikation verwendet, gibt im Weiteren eine praxisorientierte Sichtweise auf die Implementierung der Technologie sowie deren Anwendung. Das Unternehmen Rathgeber beliefert ausnahmslos alle deutschen Automobilhersteller und ist in den Bereichen Werkzeugbau, Formenbau und Fertigungstechnik tätig.<br />In Kapitel 4 werden die Ergebnisse dieser Diplomarbeit zusammengefasst.<br />Des Weiteren wird die Fragestellung über die Gründe des seltenen Auto-ID Modul Einsatzes beantwortet und weitere Erkenntnisse beim Erstellen dieser Arbeit aufgezeigt. Es werden Aspekte dieser Arbeit hervorgehoben, die im Rahmen weiterer Forschungsarbeiten betrachtet werden könnten. Die Unterschiede zwischen Angebot und Anforderungen in der Praxis werden ebenso erläutert wie fehlende Möglichkeiten in marktverfügbaren Auto-ID Modulen Kapitel 5 behandelt die Beantwortung der Fragestellung , warum Auto-ID Module in ERP/PPS-Systemen führender Hersteller zwar in der Regel vorhanden sind, aber nur selten eingesetzt werden und betrachtet die Erstellung dieser Arbeit. Des Weiteren gibt es in diesem Kapitel eine Gegenüberstellung der beantworteten und der offenen Fragestellungen.<br />

This diploma thesis is focused on the topic of the integration of auto-ID modules in ERP/PPS-systems and their usage. The main question is to find out why auto-ID modules in ERP/PPS-systems are only used in rare cases although they are usually available (chapter 1). Interviews with experts provide information about the supply of the software developers and the requirements of companies. The use of middleware is also explained. The reasons for the use of these software products instead of auto-ID modules are highlighted as well as the general problems in case of using auto-ID.<br />Chapter 2 is supposed to deliver insight into the complete theoretical background concerning auto-ID. After a short explanation of the theoretical basics of the automatic identification and their applications for industrial companies the technologies barcode and RFID are described in detail. In the next step a comparison of both technologies gives information on their benefits and disadvantages. EPC is described in the context of standardization as well as the impact of standardization in the framework of exchange of goods along supply chains. The structure and the most important basics as well as the historical development of ERP-Systems provide information about the usage of the automatic identification. Benefits related to the implementation of RFID-Systems are described in examples. The basics of the ERP-software solutions proALPHA and SAP are described briefly.<br />The auto-ID modules of the software developers SAP and proALPHA are analysed in chapter 3. A short overview of the functions of these modules is given. Interviews with representatives of both companies give an impression of the implementation of auto-ID modules in step with actual industry practice. To consider middleware as a substitute for an auto-ID module an interview with the director of the company Barcotec provides insight into the field of application of middleware. An on-site meeting at the place of the company Rathgeber, which uses bar codes for the automatic identification, gives an insight view on the practical implementation of the technology as well as on the application. The company supplies every original equipment manufacturer of the German automotive industry and is acting in the fields of tool making, mould making and manufacturing technologies.<br />Chapter 4 sums up the results of this diploma thesis. The main question concerning the rare usage of the auto-ID modules is answered.<br />Suggestions for further research activities are given. The gap between supply and demand concerning enterprise software solutions for companies is also explained as are missing functions in auto-ID modules.<br />Chapter 5 evaluates the answer of the main question why auto-ID modules in ERP/PPS-systems are only used in rare cases although they are usually available and takes a look at the creation process of this diploma thesis. It also highlights to what degree the initial questions could be answered in the course of this thesis.
