Abstract:
Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) are systems integrating physical processes with computation and communication. CPS systems have the huge potential to influence and improve the quality of life and services infrastructures. The physical interaction of CPS required sensing and actuation of the environment. CPS subsystems are networked and work cooperatively to ensure the performance of the overall system. CPS is a new paradigm extending the use of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) technology. WSN with sensing and communication functionalities play a centric role in the close loop of CPS system. The use of WSN is essential to sense the state of a physical world but the ultimate aim is to control the physical world to perform certain desired tasks. Power consumption has emerged as a primary design metric for a wide range of electronic systems. Efficient power management at system level can only be performed by having power estimators operating at the different levels of the design flow. Power consumption of WSN node is very critical for the reliable operation of CPS system. So, an early power consumption estimation at a higher abstraction level plays a key role for decision making during the design process of WSN node. The energy control in CPS is a basic feature and can only be done if a system designer has an insight of power consumption of different functional block and operational modes. This research employs high level power estimation methods which significantly decreases the complexity and efforts to estimate power consumption for the efficient design of CPS/WSN node at higher abstraction level. The proposed frame work is devised to estimate the power consumption of analog/RF functional blocks to design and model communication systems for CPS/WSN node. It is based upon SystemC AMS \Model of Computations (MoCs) and developed as a part of SYCYPHOS ( Synthesis of Cyber Physical Systems) tool.
