Kozeptionierung und Realisierung einer IT Landschaft für Kongressverwaltung basierend auf Freier Software

Abstract

Die vorliegende Arbeit, die in Zusammenarbeit mit der Fraunhofer Austria Research GmbH, sowie dem Institut für Managementwissenschaften der TU Wien entstanden ist, beschreibt an einem konkreten Beispiel die Konzeptionierung und Realisierung der IT-Landschaft für einen internationalen Kongress. Es wird zunächst das gesamte Projektumfeld skizziert und die verschiedenen Teilsysteme werden vorgestellt. Der Fokus der Arbeit liegt dann auf der Implementierung einer Online Anmeldeplattform mit Kreditkartenzahlung. Das für diesen Zweck entwickelte Anmeldesystem basiert auf dem Open Source CMS-Framework Drupal und mehreren freien Drupal-Erweiterungen, wie beispielsweise dem E-Commerce Modul Ubercart. Da Freie Software für die Projektabwicklung eine essentielle Rolle gespielt hat, wurde die Arbeit abgerundet, indem die Motive hinter dieser Bewegung sowie die Gründe, die für den Einsatz und die Entwicklung von Freier Software sprechen, etwas genauer zu beleuchten. Ebenfalls wurde kurz auf die Grundsätze der Agilen Softwareentwicklung eingegangen, da einige der agilen Methodiken im Projektverlauf angewendet wurden. Den Abschluss bildet ein Fazit zum Projektverlauf.<br />

This thesis describes, with a real world example, the realization of the IT infrastructure for an international conference. It was written in cooperation with the organizers of the "43rd International Conference of Manufacturing Systems", namely the Fraunhofer Austria Research GmbH and the Institute for Management Sciences of the Vienna University of Technology. On the first few pages there is an overview of all the different computer systems needed for the conference. There is also a small introduction to agile software development. The main focus of the work is on the development of an online-registration platform with credit card payment, which has been realized based on the open source CMS-framework Drupal and some other open source Drupal extensions like the e-commerce module Ubercart.<br />Because of the importance of Free Software to this project there is also a chapter in this thesis, that deals with the roots and motives of the Free Software movement. The last part of the paper is about the lessons learned while working on the project and how some of the problems that came up could be prevented.
