Fondazione Jodice : Stiftungshaus für das Archiv Jodice

Abstract

Für den italienischen Gegenwartskünstler und Fotografen Mimmo Jodice soll in der Altstadt Neapels ein Museum mit angeschlossenem Archiv und Atelier entstehen. Hauptbestandteil seines über vierzig Jahre langen künstlerischen Schaffens bildet eine Sammlung an festgehaltenen Momenten seiner Heimatstadt und zeigt Neapel und seine Umgebung, durch das Auge des Künstlers, im Wandel der letzten Jahrzehnte bis hin zur Gegenwart.<br />Jodices Werk muss im Kontext der Stadt gelesen und betrachtet werden, dies ist auch für das Stiftungshaus in dem er arbeitet und ausgestellt wird von Bedeutung. Der gewählte Ort lässt ein Anknüpfen an die bestehende Struktur der Stadt und damit auch an den historischen Kontext zu. Das Vorgefundene wird so aufgenommen und zu einem Ort mit neuer Bedeutung weiterentwickelt. Die Erweiterung des Museums zu einem Ort der Kunst produziert und archiviert birgt die Möglichkeit, Begegnungen zwischen Betrachter und Kunstschaffenden stattfinden zu lassen und somit einen Raum der Kommunikation und des kulturellen Austausches zu schaffen. Dem Betrachter wird nicht nur das vollendete Werk präsentiert, sondern auch der Prozess seiner Entstehung transparent gestaltet und so das Kunstobjekt klärend in den Kontext seiner Produktionsbedingungen eingefügt.<br />Für Jodices Werk ist die Stadt Neapel mit ihrer Geschichte und Struktur von großer Bedeutung. Dem Betrachter soll durch gezielte Ausblicke die umliegende Stadtlandschaft, die für gewöhnlich durch die Dichte der Stadtstruktur im Verbogenen bleibt, bewusst ins Blickfeld gerückt werden. Dadurch wird einem Kunstbild ein lebendiges Bild der Stadt zur Seite gestellt. Das Ausstellungsobjekt steht folglich nicht nur in Beziehung zu seiner Umgebung, sondern wird auch mit dem Ort seiner Entstehung in Verbindung gebracht und in seiner Bedeutung dahingehend erweitert.<br />

A museum with an attached studio and archive shall be developed in the historic center of Naples in memory of the contemporary artist and photographer Mimmo Jodice. Major parts of his over forty years of artistic creations form a collection of capturing moments of his home town and exhibits Naples and surrounding areas. Through the eyes of the artist, the collection reveals the changes which took place during the past decade leading up to the present-day.<br /> Jodice's work must be read and considered within the context of the city. The equivalent importance should be assigned to the Foundation House, where he worked and exhibited. The chosen location creates a link to the existing city structure and therefore the historical context as well. The space will be acknowledged and further developed into a place of new meaning. The expansion of the museum into a "Place of Art Produced and Recovered Archives" creates the likelihood of encounters between observers and artists, thus providing a space for communication and cultural exchange.<br />The viewer will not only be presented with his accomplished works, but will furthermore be confronted with the process of its formation. The result is, clarification concerning the pieces of art, and the contextual conditions of their creation.<br />The city of Naples with its history and structure is of great importance to Jodice's Work. The observer should purposely view the surrounding landscape which usually remains hidden due to the density of the urban structure. This conscious view poses a piece of art depicting a lively picture of the city. The exhibition-object therefore does not only relate to its environment, rather, it should be brought into correlation with its origination and thereby amplifying its significance.<br />
