Neue Ortsmitte Mauerbach : Revitalisierung des historischen Ortskerns

Abstract

Ort der Betrachtungen dieser Diplomarbeit liegt im historischen Siedlungsgebiet von Mauerbach, einer kleinen Wienerwaldgemeinde westlich von Wien. Die neuzeitliche Entwicklungsgeschichte dieses Ortes wurde stark durch den Aufstieg und Fall des ehemaligen Kartäuserklosters "Im Allerheiligental" geprägt, das heute am nördlichen Ortsrand gelegen, eines der bedeutendsten Baudenkmäler im westlichen Wienerwald darstellt.<br />Südlich daran anschließend erstreckt sich das historische Siedlungsgebiet bis zur Wienergasse, welches sich durch seine teils denkmalgeschützte Bausubstanz auszeichnet. Thema dieser Arbeit stellt die Revitalisierung des alten Ortskerns und Schaffung einer neuen kulturellen Ortsmitte dar. Ausgangspunkt dafür bildet die Neunutzung der teilweise verwahrlosten und leer stehenden Baudenkmäler "Kutscherstall" und "Postgarage", die für das Ortsbild sehr prägend sind und deren langfristiger Erhalt dadurch gesichert werden soll. Ergänzt wird der architektonische Entwurf durch ein vielseitiges Gebäudeensemble, das Raum für ein neues Gemeindezentrum bietet. Durch die gestaltliche Orientierung der Neubauten an Form und Proportion der Bestandsgebäude wird ein Harmonisches Zusammenspiel von Alt und Neu erreicht.<br />Die "neue Ortsmitte" soll in Anlehnung an die Rolle von Dorfanger und -platz, welche als Orte der Arbeit, Erholung und Kommunikation für das Dorfleben von enormer Bedeutung waren, als multifunktionaler Dorfraum interpretierbar sein und Platz für kommunale, soziale, wirtschaftliche und individuelle Gestaltungsfelder bieten. Durch die Kombination von Arbeits-, Wohn- und Erholungsflächen, sowie sozialer und kommunaler Angebote, soll den vielerorts negativen strukturellen Entwicklungen im Dorf (funktionsentleerte Dorfkerne, monofunktionale Wohngebiete und Auflösung gewachsener Siedlungsstrukturen) entgegengewirkt werden. Das neu zu schaffende Dorfzentrum darf keine leere Repräsentationsfläche der Gemeinde darstellen, sondern soll durch sein vielfältiges Angebot den Bewohnern einen aktiv mitgestaltbaren Dorfraum bieten.<br />

The site of this diploma thesis is located in the historic centre of Mauerbach, a small community situated in the Vienna woods west of the city of Vienna. The history of the village was marked by the rise and fall of the charterhouse "Im Allerheiligental" (All Saints' Valley), which is placed at the northern outskirts of the village. It represents one of the most outstanding architectural monuments in the western Wienerwald. In the south, adjacent to the former monastery, the historic settlement area is situated, which is distinguished by some protected historical buildings.<br />Subject of this diploma thesis constitutes the revitalisation of the historic core and creation of a cultural centre of Mauerbach. Initial point of the design concept is the conversion and reuse of the heritage protected building monuments "Kutscherstall" (coachmen's stable) and "Postgarage" (postal garage), which are partly vacant and still designing the village's appearance, so that their long term conservation should be made sure. A multifunctional building ensemble, which provides space for a municipal centre, complements the conceptual draft. Due to the orientation of the new buildings in shape and proportion of the existing structures a harmonious combination of old and new is achieved.<br />The "new center" is in reference to the former role of a village green and square, which was a place of work, recreation and communication and therefore of enormous importance for the village life, to be interpreted as a multifunctional village area which offers space for communal, social, economic and individual design (possibilities). Negative structural developments in many villages (such as functionally emptied village centres, mono-functional residential areas and dissolution of grown settlement structures) is to be counteracted by the combination of working, living and recreational areas, as well as social and municipal offers.<br />The new village centre must not be a mere area of municipal representation but through the diversified functional offer for all residents the concept of an actively designed, lived village area becomes real.<br />
