Im modernen Rennsport kann ein verringerter Kraftstoffverbrauch oder eine gesteigerte Effizienz über Sieg oder Niederlage entscheiden. Daher wird in der Antriebsentwicklung im Bereich Motorsport der Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche AG derzeit an neuen effizienteren Motorkonzepten gearbeitet, welche in naher Zukunft zum Einsatz kommen könnten. Einige dieser Untersuchungen werden an konventionellen Verbrennungsmotoren durchgeführt, andere finden wiederum an bisher noch nie realisierten Funktionsprinzipien statt. Aufgrund der außergewöhnlichen Funktionsweise eines dieser neuartigen Motorkonzepte wird aus praktischer Sicht auch ein unkonventioneller Motoraufbau erforderlich, welcher sich mitunter auf die Geometrie von Ein- und Auslasskanälen auswirkt. Die Untersuchungen dieser Arbeit konzentrieren sich auf die thermische Entkoppelung eines solchen Strömungskanals vom Zylinderkopf. Es wird ein Verfahren aufgezeigt, wodurch es möglich wird, einen Großteil der üblicherweise von Strömungskanälen in das Kühlsystem abgegebenen Wärme zu verhindern. Dies verringert die von Kühlsystemen erforderliche Leistung, was sich wiederum auf die Baugröße des Kühlsystems und daraus folgernd auch auf die Aerodynamik eines Rennfahrzeuges auswirkt. Die daraus gewonnenen Resultate können in Zukunft auch auf andere Motorkonzepte übertragen werden.
