Abstract:
The idea of this master thesis was to develop a concept, which allows the manufacturing of hybrid vehicles in a semi knocked down reference model. This new technology in the automotive industry requires changes in the production system, that are explained in this work. First, the theoretical basis and approaches of a value added production system are explained. This system has its origin in Hitoshi Takeda´s synchrony production system, who has assisted the Toyota production system. In a next step, the state of art has been described using a hybrid vehicle of the BMW group (Active Hybrid X6) as an accurate representation of the components, which are installed in such a vehicle. With this basic information, the assembly time of an Active Hybrid 7 and an Active Hybrid X6 has been elaborated. This first view should identify the differences to a conventionally powered vehicle. Using the delta sizes of Active Hybrid X6 it was possible to carry out a hybridization of the semi knocked down reference model. The next step is the elaboration and description of the initial situation (actual situation). The line balancing is explained based on a logical assembly sequence. From this point of start, three solutions are developed with the aid of the value stream analysis/design method. Using a value analysis was developed to evaluate the possible solutions, so that a preference could be given. A subsequent detailed description of the solution approach was made regarding line balancing, workmen numbers and additional equipment needed. By the use of high voltage components, new hazard sources arise along with their handling. The various training opportunities have been identified to enable the staff for the work on high voltage components. Finally, an economic evaluation of the solution variant has been developed. These are needed investments quoted from today's perspective that are being considered for the adaptation of the semi knocked down reference model. Also the training costs incurred have been included in this analysis.
