The construction of buildings with corners and edges has proven over centuries. If you look at these structures, you can see that they usually have clear corners and edges. This is a result because of the fact that they are more simple and cheaper to build. In the ship building industry on the other side, it is common since always that the planks for ships are being bend so that they stick together and seal the hull of the ship. However, especially in the area of modern architecture often it is desired and required, to use structures and build buildings which have, fully aware, a rounded or elliptical shape. The big challenge now is to machine these materials in a way that elliptical structures can be produced. That means that the used materials have to be matched up exactly, but on the other hand that the production has to be cheap and fast. The goal of this thesis is, to develop a device to bend strand like profiles along automatically adjusting bending lines. The focus of the thesis is an at most simple construction of the device, considering the given requirements and moreover the possibility to adapt the device in the future with other improvements and extensions.
