Abstract:

Following the SARIMA approach, different forecasting models are explained anddeveloped based on monthly and quarterly revenue data from a real company. It is investigated whether the models based on monthly data have a higher forecasting accuracy than those based on quarterly data and whether the inclusion of the ROC metrics can further increase the forecasting accuracy. Furthermore, the methodology of the efficient market hypothesis is explained, and an event study is conducted for the same company. The goal of this thesis is to ascertain, whether the forecasts constructed in this study can be used to predict how the stock of the company will behave a short time after the announcement day.
