Abstract:
With this thesis an approach of integrating production layout planning into industrial build-ing design is conducted. A method is developed for automated parametric production layout scenario planning to be integrated into early structural building design to maximise the flexibility of a building system in long term. The research method is based on para-metric modelling for layout scenario creation. Through literature research and a multiple case study, representative variables for the design space of a production layout are de-veloped. A certain number of production layout scenarios according to the pre-defined designer requirements, the determined constraints and generated optimising objectives are designed throughout an automated production layout generation within the software Rhinocerus3D and its plug-in Grasshopper. The basis for the encoded automated layout generation is provided through this thesis. The user interface for production planners as well as the objective function with its objectives and weighting, the constraints and the decision variables conclude the foundation for the automated generated production lay-out planning. Scripting the code and encoding the named developed variables was out-sourced to the close standing Institute of Visual Computing and Human-Centred Tech-nology of the Vienna University of Technology. The desired number of generated layout options will further be visualised with the software Rhinocerurs3D. Therefore, multiple designing disciplines and stakeholders can take a joint decision on which production layout options can further be investigated with the planning of structural building design and an integrated planning tool can find its use. Also, the evaluation of the generated layout options will be parameter defined executed according to the position on the property and the position of the individual production layout areas in relation to each other within this thesis.
