The exhibition in the Wien Museum on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Otto Wagners death has given me an important stimulus for the idea of an Otto Wagner Archives. His written work has also played an important role since it is, in my opinion, today even after 100 years still up to date. Above all I was fascinated by his artistic perceive, which made him an artist beyond his time. I have set myself the task to analyze the transformation of its formal idiom and to set the goal of Otto-Wagner’s claim to his designs for my work. In order of inspiration by his work and to be able to incorporate parts of it in my design it is important to think about how Otto Wagner would build as an architect of the 21st century. For that I start with the analysis of his works. The most complete description of all Otto Wagner’s works is “The Work of the Architect” by Otto Antonia Graf, of which I will take the most consideration. As I design a museum, I will also deal with the subject of historical typologies and the history of the development of the museum. Then I would also point out some theoretical work by contempo- rary architects, such as David Chipperfield, Herzog & de Meuron, etc., to show the relation to Otto Wagners works.Furthermore, I will deal with the analysis of the site. As building site I have selected the Otto-Wagner-Platz and Ostarrichipark. According to the “Gen- eralregulation” plan of Otto Wagner and a city-development plan of 1945, it was intended to build a building here. The building would be at the right place to restore the street view. I have considered a program where in addition to exhibition opportunities there would be many different research areas offered. The buildings should fulfill the functions of a museum and fulfill an educational claim.
