As part of my diploma thesis I wanted to deal with the history of my homeland, current problems of the region and a possible future scenario to create a focal point for the region and the wider environment. The federal state, Saarland in Germany, is increasingly focusing on the tourism industry. I went looking for interesting construction sites throughout the state and researched in local and professional journals. The research led me finally to my later construction site. This is located below the so-called Hunnenring. The Hunnenring today consists of the ruins of a kilometer-long, round defensive wall of the Celts, which probably protected one of the most important places of worship of his time. Currently and in the future, more archaeological excavations are planned here. Also on my site bundled numerous cycling and hiking trails in and out of the National Park Hunsrück-Hochwald. In addition to the national park, a visitor center is to be created here, which brings history and nature to children and adults alike. My intention is to give the visitor a sense of how one worked and lived during that time. In addition to the exhibition space, work and accommodation spaces, communication rooms are to be created where an exchange between visitors and experts as well as workshops can take place. Also a restaurant with event area is planned. The architecture of the building attracts the interest of hikers and cyclists. The building protects with its architectural gesture from the adjacent street and opens to the Hunnenring and the Celtic village. Here the topic of the protective wall is purposefully conceptually used. Out of respect for the environment and due to the geological conditions of the property, a part of the building is dug. The roof surface of the building is accessible and extensively landscaped. There are grown plants, which are the Celts used. Through the building concept that I described and developed in advance, I hope that the people from the region as well as the visitors will be brought together and that the history of the region will be dealt with.
