Winterer, T. (2018). Linzer Zunge : Bebauung als begehbare Topographie im Hafengebiet von Linz : development as walkable topography in the harbor area of Linz [Diploma Thesis, Technische Universität Wien]. reposiTUm. https://doi.org/10.34726/hss.2018.42585

The starting point for the project is the development of the port in recent years, from a pure industrial area to a hotspot of urban development in Linz. The settlement of various cultural associations, an annual harbor festival and a master plan launched in 2014 show the direction in which the harbor should develop in the next few years. The project on the separating bank promontory tries to use a green area of approx. 70,000 m² in the harbor area in such a way that a certain building density can be achieved without having to forego green space. Despite difficult basic conditions such as flooding and accessibility, a closed structure is created based on the diversity of uses of a perimeter block development. The ground plans are support-free due to the steel construction, and therefore adaptable to a variety of uses. The centerpiece is the organically shaped roof landscape, which is intended to enrich the industrial area as a public green space, and acts as a connecting element from the city center to the industrial area.
