Abstract:
Im Stadtquartier Muthgasse befindet sich das APA Hochhaus, welches seit viele Jahren leer steht, bereits zahlreiche Besitzerwechsel hinter sich hat und dadurch ein Zeichen für schlechte Stadtentwicklung ist. Anstatt es abzureißen, wird ein Konzept entworfen, die das Hochhaus umgebaut und verbessert werden kann. Dabei wird das Gebäude nach außen mit einem Holzzubau ergänzt. Der Entwurf behält die Flexibilität des Bestands bei und wird sowohl mit Wohnen als aus Büro oder Kombinationen davon bespielt. Somit wird aus dem Negativbeispiel ein Vorbild für nachhaltige Gebäudetransformation.

The APA high-rise is located in the Muthgasse district, which has been empty for many years and has already seen numerous changes of ownership, which is a sign of poor urban development. Instead of tearing it down, a concept is designed that allows the high-rise to be rebuilt and improved. The building is supplemented on the outside with a wooden extension. The design maintains the flexibility of the existing building and is used for both living and office or a combination thereof. Thus, the negative example becomes a role model for sustainable building transformation.
