dc.description.abstract

dc.description.abstract
Perception is the key entrance point of an automated driving system (ADS) capability to navigate complex scenarios. Although knowledge on static environment features might be retrieved using high-definition maps, the very nature of the operational domain of a vehicle entails dynamic behavior. Occlusions, appearances, and disappearances are a few of the difficulties perception algorithms may face in an urban context that canhinder their performance. Given the pitfalls associated with single ego-vehicle perception, the deployment of ADS proves to be a hard task once the required level of safety is not reached. To address these short comings, collaborative perception (CP) allows the integration of multiple sources of data coming from ADS and neighboring infrastructure. Although given a certain threshold the CP outperforms the single vehicle perception, there still an open question towards the quality of data being shared. We propose in this thesis to look to the intrinsic quality of the data and the impact of the environment. More specifically, what trust models exist in literature and how they could be applied to collaborative perception.
