Die Diplomarbeit beschäftigt sich mit einer Schule namens Tiigo School in Kenia, Afrika. Sie liegt mitten im Nirgendwo der Wüste. Die Bildungseinrichtung dient als Zentrum für Kinder der Nomadeneltern, welche sie ganzjährig dort lassen, um ihnen eine Chance auf Bildung zu gewährleisten. Ziel der Arbeit ist eine intensive Auseinandersetzung mit der traditionellen Bauweise Ostafrikas und den vorhandenen lokalen Materialien. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt ist Klima gerechtes Bauen, um ein Maximum an Qualität aus der Natur und Umgebung herauszuholen. Im Laufe der Arbeit soll ein nachhaltiges, kosteneffizientes und intelligentes Konzept auf Basis der vorhanden Materialien erstellt werden. Wichtig ist auch die Kommunikation mit den Menschen vor Ort und allen anderen Beteiligten der Schule. Deshalb trat ich im Sommer 2022 eine Forschungsreise an, um noch mehr über die kenianische Kultur zu erfahren. In der Diplomarbeit wird ein Masterplan für das gesamte Gebiet der Tiigo School aufgesetzt, um eine sichere, qualitative und hochwertige Schulinfrastruktur aufzubauen.

The master thesis deals with a school called Tiigo School in Kenya, Africa. It‘s in the middle of nowhere in the desert. The educational facility serves as a center for the children of the nomad parents, who leave them there all year round to give them an opportunity for education. The aim of the work is an intensive examination of the traditional construction of East Africa and the existing local materials. Another focus is climate-friendly building in order to get the maximum quality out of nature and the environment. In the course of the thesis, a sustainable, cost-efficient and intelligent concept based on the existing materials is to be created. Communication with the local people and everyone else involved in the school is also important. Therefore, in the summer of 2022, I embarked on a research trip to learn more about Kenyan culture. In the master thesis, a master plan for the entire area of the Tiigo School is set up in order to build a safe, high-quality school infrastructure.
