Natur- und umweltpädagogische Potenzialräume im urbanen Kontext

Abstract

Natur- und Umweltpädagogik gewann in jüngerer Vergangenheit zunehmend an Bedeutung, dies sowohl auf allgemeiner Ebene als auch in der fachspezifischen und professionellen Auseinandersetzung damit. Einerseits befeuern die Konsequenzen des anthropogenen, also durch die Menschheit verursachten, Klimawandels die Debatten rund um die menschliche Einflusssphäre in der Umwelt und die menschliche Beziehung zur Natur. Andererseits wird postuliert, dasstechnologische Fortschritte, vor allem im Bereich der digitalen Medien und in Kombination mit rasanter Landflucht, die Entfremdung einer Population von Naturräumen zur Folge haben können. Da durch Architektur und Stadtplanung die Umwelt ganz maßgeblich (um)gestaltet wird, und dadurch unsere gesamte Lebensweise, Wahrnehmung und Interaktion mit der Umwelt mitbestimmt wird, möchte ich mich in dieser Arbeit mit Potenzialräumen der Natur- und Umweltpädagogik beschäftigen. Mittels Recherchen und konkreter gestalterischer Zugänge soll erforscht werden, wie umweltpädagogische Maßnahmen im urbanen Kontext konzipiert und vermitteltund die dabei entstehenden Räume architektonisch ausformuliert werden.Als konkretes Fallbeispiel, um aktuelle Konzepte und Ideen näher zu untersuchen, dient das Projekt Naschgarten, das im Süden von Wien seit 2021 realisiert wird.

Environmental education has gained importance throughout the general and professional discussion in recent years. On the one hand the anthropogenic climate change, as in humanly caused climate change, fuels the debate about the human sphere of influence in the environment and human relations to nature. On the other hand, it is apprehended that technological advances in digital media as well as rapidly growing and/or shifting urban populations can lead to an alienation of people from natural spaces.In this regard design and architecture influence the way the environment is perceived and interacted with. With this thesis I therefore want to explore potentials for environmental education through research and altercation with specific creative approaches and implementations.How can measures of environmental education be conveyed directly in an urban context and what could such pedagogical spaces look like architecturally? Based on a case study about a project called Naschgarten in the south of Vienna different conceptions and ideas are investigated.
