Der Postgasthof von Sand in Taufers

Abstract

Das ortsbildprägende architektonische Eingangstor von Sand in Taufers, bestehend aus drei solitär Bauten im Stil des Historismus, vegetiert seit Jahrzehnten als Leerstand vor sich hin. Seit dem Tod des letzten Besitzers – Dr. Anton Mutschlechner – in den 1970er Jahren, stehen die Gebäude unverändert leer und die Diskrepanz der unterschiedlichsten Meinungen in der Öffentlichkeit führte bis jetzt dazu, dass nichts passiert ist, weder eine Sanierung noch ein Abriss. Der Postgasthof erfährt im Laufe der Zeit diverse Um- sowie Ausbauten bis er Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts sein heutiges Erscheinungsbild erhalten hat. Der Umfang dieser Arbeit erstreckt sich nicht bis zu den spezifischen bau- und energietechnischen Aufgaben der benötigten Sanierung, sondern zielt vielmehr darauf ab, auf der Grundlage der Bauforschung eine überzeugende Anzahl an Argumenten zur weiteren Nutzung des Gebäudes zu erarbeiten. Es geht dabei um eine unterstützende Rolle bei der Debatte um den Erhalt dieser historisch wertvollen Substanz.Nach der Untersuchung und Rekonstruktion des historischen Hintergrundes des Postgasthofes in seinem Kontext und einer Analyse der bestehenden Struktur, werden die Besonderheiten des Objektes herausgefiltert und unter der Berücksichtigung des denkmalpflegerischen Konzeptes ein Entwurfsvorschlag für ein adäquate Nachnutzung erarbeitet. Abgeschlossen wird die Arbeit mit einem architektonischen Entwurf, der angemessenen Wohnraum für autonome Senioren bietet und im Zusammenspiel mit der Unterbringung zusätzlicher öffentlicher Einrichtungen den Austausch der Generationen fördern soll.

The architectural gateway to ‘Sand in Taufers’, consisting of three solitary buildings in the style of historicism, has been vegetating as a vacant building for decades. Since the death of the last owner - Dr. Anton Mutschlechner - in the 1970s, the buildings have stood empty and the discrepancy of the opinions in the public has led, until now, to the fact that nothing has happened, neither a renovation nor a demolition. In the course of time, the ‘Postgasthof’ underwent various alterations as well as extensions until it acquired its present appearance at the beginning of the 20th century.The scope of this work does not extend to the specific structural and energy engineering tasks of the required renovation, but rather aims to develop a convincing set of arguments for the further use of the building based on the building research. The aim is to play a supporting role in the debate about the preservation of this historically valuable substance.After the investigation and reconstruction of the historical background of the ‘Postgasthof’ in its context and an analysis of the existing structure, the special features of the object will be emphasized and a design proposal for an adequate subsequent use will be developed, considering the concept of monument preservation. Thereby the handling of the steadily aging society in connection with the demographic change as well as the accompanying urban sprawl in the rural areas plays a major role. The work is concluded with an architectural design that offers adequate living space for autonomous seniors and, in conjunction with the accommodation of additional public facilities, is intended to promote the exchange of generations.
