„Perfekte Welle: Neugestaltung des Hamburger Hauptbahnhofs“ - In dieser Diplomarbeit wird dem wichtigsten Verkehrsknotenpunkt Norddeutschlands und dem Herzstück Hamburgs eine neue Identität verliehen.Der Hauptbahnhof liegt im Herzen der Hansestadt und fungiert als Drehscheibe des öffentlichen Nahverkehrs, da sich dort alle U-Bahn-, S-Bahnlinien sowie sämtliche Züge des Regional- und Fernverkehrs kreuzen. Aufgrund dieser Fakten, der hohen Passagierzahlen und der geografischen Lage gilt er als chronisch überlastet und stößt nicht selten an seine Kapazitätsgrenze. So verliert nicht nur der Bahnhof selbst an Nutzungsqualität, auch das umliegende Stadtareal wird durch die konstante Überbelastung in Mitleidenschaft gezogen.Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es, den Hauptbahnhof und das unmittelbare Areal von den bestehenden Problematiken zu entbinden und Alltagsprozesse zu optimieren. Durch die Neugestaltung wird das Areal in das umliegende Stadtbild integriert und die Barrieren des Kulturrings lösen sich auf. So entsteht zwischen dem Bahnhofsareal und der Stadt ein nahtloser Übergang entlang des Kulturrings. Diese Gestaltung schafft einen erheblichen Mehrwert sowohl für die Stadt Hamburg als auch für die Öffentlichkeit.

"Perfect Wave: Redesign of Hamburg Central Station" - This thesis aims to give a new identity to the most important transportation junction in northern Germany and the heart of Hamburg.Situated in the heart of the city, the Central Station serves as a crucial junction for public transportation, where all subway lines, suburban train lines, regional train lines, and long-distance train lines intersect. Due to high passenger numbers and its geographical location, the station is chronically overloaded and frequently reaches its capacity limits. Consequently, both the station itself and the surrounding urban area suffer from reduced usability and constant overcrowding.The objective of this thesis is to alleviate the existing issues and optimize everyday processes for the Central Station and its immediate surroundings. Through a comprehensive redesign, the area will be seamlessly integrated into the surrounding cityscape, eliminating the barriers imposed by the Kulturring. This integration will create a harmonious transition between the station area and the city, offering significant benefits for the city of Hamburg and the general public.
