Abstract:
Two smooth, convex and bounded from below functions in a Hilbert space are equal up to a constant if and only if their derivatives have the same norm everywhere. We shall give an analogous determination property for the class
of continuous, coercive functions in metric spaces using the notion of metric slope. Extensions in a more general case will be presented in a follow-up talk by D. Salas.
