Die alte Pfarrkirche Münichholz : Geschichte, Bestandsaufnahme, Revitalisierung

Abstract

Die Alte Pfarrkirche Münichholz Christ König liegt in Münichholz, einem Stadtteil von Steyr in Oberösterreich. Das Gebäude wurde 1946 – kurz nach Kriegsende – erbaut und besteht aus einer Saalkirche mit angrenzendem Anbau. Seit 2009 steht das Kirchenensemble inklusive der Alte Pfarrkirche gemäß § 2a Denkmalschutzgesetz unter Denkmalschutz, seit 2019 auch per Bescheid. Mit dem Bau der neuen Pfarrkirche 1964 in unmittelbarer Nähe verlor das alte Gebäude seine ursprüngliche Zweckbestimmung. Seither steht es leer und wird gegebenenfalls als Lager verwendet. Durch eine fehlende Neunutzung wird das Baudenkmal unzureichend gepflegt und droht zu verwahrlosen und vergessen zu werden.Mit der Erforschung der Geschichte des Gebäudes und seiner Umgebung sowie einer umfangreichen Bau- und Bestandsaufnahme wird ein denkmalpflegerisches Sanierungskonzept in Verbindung mit einem neuen Nutzungskonzept erstellt. Darauf basierend folgt ein konkreter Entwurf, aufbauend auf einem nachhaltigen Umgang mit wertvollen Baudenkmälern und der aktuellen Richtlinien der Denkmalpflege.

The Old Parish Church of Münichholz Christ König is located in Münichholz, a district of Steyr in Upper Austria. The building was constructed in 1946 - shortly after the end of the 2nd World War - and consists of a hall church with an adjacent annex. Since 2009, the church ensemble including the Old Parish Church has been under monument protection according to § 2a of the Monument Protection Act, and since 2019 also by official notice. With the construction of the new parish church in 1964 in the immediate vicinity, the old building lost its original purpose. Since then, it has been unoccupied and used for storage, if required. Due to the absence of a new utilization, the architectural monument is inadequately maintained and in danger of becoming neglected and forgotten. With the research of the historical background of the building and its surroundings as well as an extensive building and inventory survey, a monument preservation rehabilitation concept in connection with a new utilization concept will be developed. Based on this, a concrete design will follow, founded on a sustainable approach to valuable architectural monuments and the current guidelines for the preservation of historical monuments.
