(Re)connect: Ein neues Zuhause für Kultur in Sarajevo

Abstract

Sarajevo und Kultur stehen in einer kohärenten Beziehung. Die diversen kulturellen Einflüsse haben das städtebauliche Bild geprägt und den Weg für eine multikulturelle Gesellschaft bereitet. Die Kultur stellte schon immer eine sichere Zone des gemeinsamen Austauschs dar und diente als Treibstoff, um positive Veränderungen voranzubringen. Während der Belagerung von Sarajevo war es die unsichtbare Verbindung zwischen den Ethnien und ein Zufluchtsort vor dem grausamen Alltag sowie der Hoffnungsträger, um die Einigkeit zu bewahren. In der Nachkriegszeit gab es zahlreiche Initiativen, die darauf ausgerichtet waren, das Kulturangebot zu erweitern und obwohl die vorgeschlagenen Projekte positive Reaktionen hervorgerufen haben, wurde jedoch keines von ihnen umgesetzt. Um die Vielschichtigkeit der Kultur zu erhalten, besteht das Kulturzentrum, das in dieser Diplomarbeit entworfen wurde, aus mehreren Ebenen: Performance, Ausstellung und Bildung agieren gemeinsam als Mittel der individuellen Entfaltung und des gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalts. Der Flexibilitätsparameter war auch ein wichtiger Entwurfsgrundsatz, um ein erweitertes Nutzungsangebot zu implementieren und die Zukunftsperspektive zu berücksichtigen. Das kulturelle Netzwerk wird erweitert und somit die Weiterentwicklung der Stadt gewährleistet, wobei die gemeinsame Verbindung gestärkt und das kulturelle Erbe bereichert wird. Zusätzlich wirkt sich die Potenzierung der Kultur positiv auf das Stadtbild, die Gesellschaft, den Tourismus sowie die Wirtschaft aus. Es kommt zu einer Annäherung der Ethnien durch die soziale Interaktion, wobei der Wiedererkennungswert von Sarajevo gesteigert wird und die Förderung des kulturellen Erbes zu wirtschaftlichen Fortschritten führt.

Sarajevo and culture are in a coherent relationship: the diverse cultural influence has shaped the urban development and paved the way for a multi-cultural society. Culture has always provided a safe zone for shared exchange and served as a fuel to bring positive change forward. During the siege of Sarajevo, it acted as the invisible connection between the ethnic groups and a safe haven from the cruel everyday life, as well as a beacon of hope to maintain a common unity. In the post-war period there were numerous initiatives to expand the cultural offer and although the suggested projects provoked positive reactions, none of them was executed. In order to preserve the multi-faceted culture, the cultural center in this diploma thesis was designed with multiple layers: performance, exhibition and education act as an instrument for individual development and social cohesion. The flexibility parameter was an important design tool to implement and expand the range of use and consider the future perspective. Through the expansion of the cultural network the city-development is secured, the common connection is strengthened and the cultural heritage is enriched. The potentiation of the culture has a positive effect on the cityscape, the society, tourism as well as the economy. The social interaction leads to convergence between the ethnic groups where the recognition value of Sarajevo is increased, and the promotion of the cultural heritage sparks economic progress.
