Abstract:
This work proposes an energy management strategy to limit battery degradation in heavy-duty fuel cell electric vehicles using dynamic programming to solve the multi-objective optimization problem of battery degradation and fuel consumption. The simulation results show that a Pareto front forms between the two targets because it is impossible to optimize both simultaneously. Nevertheless, selecting a suitable trade-off can reduce battery degradation by 26%, with only a 2% higher fuel consumption than the minimum.
