VIC - territorializing the extraterritorial

Abstract

Das Projekt denkt die existierende Situation vor der UNO-City neu, indem es eine klar definierte Stadtplattform vorschlägt. Der obere Teil dient als Bühne für die verschiedenen öffentlichen Aktivitäten - von Märkten und Festen bis hin zu politischen Demonstrationen - während der untere Teil als Boîte a Miracle die materielle Arbeit der spezifischen Büros im Wiener Zentrum verkörpert. Durch die Positionierung auf der Straßenachse ordnet sich das VIC zusammen mit Reichsbrücke, Praterstern und Stephansdom in ein größeres Ganzes stadtprägender Elemente ein.

The project redefines the existing situation in front of the UNO-City by proposing a clearly defined city platform. The top serves as a stage that would accommodate the various public activities - from markets and festivities to political demonstrations, whereas the bottom is imagined as a boîte a miracle containing the material work of the specific agencies situated in the Viennese centre. Being located at the street axes collecting some of the elements that constitute the city such as Reichsbrücke, Praterstern and Stephansdom, the VIC platform becomes part of a bigger whole.
