Abstract:
The kinetics of many polymerizations is strongly temperature dependent. Therefore, the Hot Lithography process is especially suitable for such classes of monomers and we were able to directly print polyoxazolines, polyesters, polyetheresters, polycarbonates, phenolic resins or polycyanurates.
Polycyanurates offer outstanding thermomechanical properties due to their unique triazine structure and phenolic resins are, although the oldest synthetic thermosets, still an enormously important class of substances in many areas of industry. Generally, these resistant thermosets are formed into the desired shape via lengthy molding processes. We present here the direct high-resolution 3D printing via Hot Lithography of these materials without the need of assisting matrix polymers or elaborate functionalization via allyl or epoxy groups.
