The Golden Lamb: Reaktivierung eines ehemaligen Hotels in Subotica

Abstract

Ganz im Norden Serbiens, unweit der ungarischen Grenze, liegt die Stadt Subotica, einst bekannt als Maria Theresiopolis. In den letzten Jahrzehnten erlebte diese Stadt zahlreiche Metamorphosen und wird heute aufgrund einer Vielzahl von Werken aus dem beginnenden 20. Jahrhundert als „Stadt der Secession“ bezeichnet. Genau eines dieser wertvollen Gebäude ist das ehemalige Hotel ,,Goldenes Lamm”, später die Heimat der JNA (Jugoslawische Volksarmee). Seine mit Elementen der Münchener Secession gefüllte Fassade steht unter Denkmalschutz und liegt im Zentrum der Stadt. Allerdings ist das Gebäude seit mehr als einem Jahrzehnt völlig verlassen und dem Verfall ausgesetzt. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, nach einer ausführlichen Standortanalyse festzustellen, mit welchen aktuellen Problemen die Stadt konfrontiert ist, um eine neue Funktion für dieses Gebäude zu finden. Durch die Anpassung des Raumes an das neu festgelegte Programm, der teils für die Öffentlichkeit, teils als Co-working und Büros genutzt werden sollte, soll das Gebäude reaktiviert und so wieder zum Leben erweckt werden.

In the very north of Serbia, not far from the Hungarian border, lies the city of Subotica, once known as Maria Theresiopolis. In re-cent decades, this city has experienced numerous metamorphoses and today it is well known as the “City of Secession” due to a large number of works from the beginning of the 20th century. Exactly one of these valuable buildings is the former Hotel “The Golden Lamb”, later the home of the JNA (Yugoslav People‘s Army). Its facade, filled with elements of the Munich Secession, is of great importance and is located in the center of the city. However, the building has been completely abandoned and deteriorating for more than a decade.The aim of this work is, after a detailed site analysis, to determine what current problems the city is facing in order to find a new function for this building. By adapting the space to the newly established program, which should be used partly for the public and partly as coworking and offices, the building should be reactivated and brought back to life.
