Inclusion -Sociology: being included; equal participation in something (opposite of exclusion)Pedagogy: joint education of impaired and non-impaired children in kindergartens and regular schools. In this diploma thesis, the topic of inclusion in educational buildings is addressed and examined from various angles. Both in terms of theoretical approaches to inclusion and the connection to the design perspective from architecture and design, in order to define a possible framework for the design of inclusive school architecture. The empirical part, in which two schools in Vienna with different initial situations were examined and processed in different ways, shows the connection between the spatial design of an inclusive school and the opportunities that can arise. The conclusion is a kind of guideline for inclusive building. This should help to avoid mistakes in advance and at the same time highlight important aspects that need to be considered during the planning stage.
