Der Traum vom Eigenheim – das Einfamilienhaus in der Krise

Abstract

Das Ziel dieser Forschung ist die Erörterung, wie sich rezente Krisen auf die gegenwärtigen und zukünftigen Wohnbedürfnisse und Wohnvorstellungen der Menschen in der Region Waldviertel in Niederösterreich auswirken. Dazu wird die folgende Forschungsfragegestellt: Welchen Einfluss haben Krisen wie die Coronakrise, die Klimakrise und die Inflationskrise auf die beliebteste Wohnform in Österreich – das Einfamilienhaus? Für die Beantwortung der Forschungsfrage wurde eine empirische Fallstudie realisiert, die die Auswirkungen der Krisen auf die Wohnvorstellungen der Befragten untersuchte. Die Interviews wurden in halbstrukturierter Form im Untersuchungsgebiet Waldviertel in Niederösterreich durchgeführt. Die qualitative Studie hat gezeigt, dass die Wohnvorstellungen der Befragten in erheblichem Maße von den Einflüssen und Auswirkungen der Coronakrise geprägt wurden. Etwa ein Drittel der Teilnehmer:innen gibt an, dass die Klimakrise ihre Vorstellungen teilweise beeinflusst, während die Inflationskrise nur einen sehr geringen Einfluss zu haben scheint. Dies zeigt, dass die Krisen kaum Einfluss auf die Wohnvorstellungen genommen haben. Insbesondere in ländlichen Regionen wie dem Waldviertel bleibt das Einfamilienhaus weiterhin beliebt. Die Studie verdeutlicht, dass viele Zusammenhänge im Kontext von Wohnen, Ökonomie, Ökologie und Sozialem noch nicht ausreichend erforscht sind. Hierin liegt Potenzial und Nachholbedarf für die Vermittlung von Baukultur und eine effiziente Planung. Es besteht die Möglichkeit zur Entwicklung innovativer Wege und Lösungen für die Wohnvorstellungen und Bedürfnisse im Waldviertel, die sowohl diesen Anforderungen entsprechen als auch einen nachhaltigen Umgang mit Ressourcen und der Gesellschaft fördern. Dabei sollten die ökonomischen, ökologischen und sozialen Vorteile betont werden.

The aim of this research is to discuss how recent crises affect the current and future housing needs and housing expectations of people in the Waldviertel region in Lower Austria. The following research question isposed: What influence do crises such as the Corona crisis, the climate crisis and the inflation crisis have on the most popular form of housing in Austria - the single-family home? In order to answer the research question, an empirical case study, that examined the effects of the crises on the respondents' ideas about housing, was realised. The interviews were conducted in semi-structuredform. The qualitative study showed that the interviewees' ideas about housing were shaped to a considerable extent by the influences and effects of the Coronavirus crisis. Around a third of the participants stated that the climate crisis has partially influenced their ideas, while the inflation crisis only appears to have a very minor impact.This shows that the crises have had hardly any impact on housing preferences. Single-family homes remain popular, particularly in rural regions such as the Waldviertel. The study makes it clear that many interrelationships in the context of housing, economy, ecology and social issues have not yet been sufficiently researched. There is potential and pent-up demand here for the communication of building culture and efficient planning. There is an opportunity to develop innovative approaches and solutions for housing ideas and needs in the Waldviertel that both fulfil these requirements and promote a sustainable approach to resources and society. The economic, ecological and social advantages should be emphasised.
