Vergleich bestehender Bewertungskriterien für die Kreislauffähigkeit von Gebäuden

Abstract

In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird die Abbildung kreislaufbezogener Aspekte eines Gebäudes inbestehenden Nachhaltigkeits-Zertifizierungssystemen betrachtet. Hintergrund ist die steigende Relevanz kreislauffähiger Konzepte und deren Umsetzung in der Baubranche hinsichtlich der siche ntwickelnden Anforderungen auf politischer und rechtlicher Ebene. Daher wird im ersten Teilder Arbeit ein kurzer Überblick über den aktuellen Stand rechtlicher und politischer Rahmenbedingungen im Kontext der Kreislaufwirtschaft auf europäischer, sowie nationaler Ebene gegeben.Im zweiten Teil werden insgesamt sechs Zertifizierungssysteme vorgestellt und auf die Berücksichtigung kreislaufbezogener Aspekte untersucht. Betrachtet wurden das Berichtsrahmenwerk Level(s), das Zertifizierungssystem der Deutschen Gesellschaft für nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB),das Bewertungssystem Nachhaltiges Bauen (BNB), die klimaaktiv-Gebäudezertifizierung, das Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-System und die Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM). Insgesamt wurden systemübegreifend14 Kriterien und 8 Teilkriterien mit Bezug zur Kreislauffähigkeit identifiziert, wovon 11 und ein Teilkriterium als quantifizierbar und 9 als im Rahmen dieser Arbeit bewertbar eingestuft wurden. Um die einzelnen Zertifizierungssysteme anhand der ausgewählten Kriterien genauer auf die Abbildung der Kreislauffähigkeit analysieren zu können, ist im ersten Schritt eine Auswertung dieser Kriterien notwendig. Dazu wurde eine Fallstudie durchgeführt, wobei die Kriterien mit Hilfe eines zur Verfügung gestellten Projektes ausgewertet wurden. Dafür benötigte Input-Datenaus dem Projekt umfassen Bauteilaufbauten/ -flächen/ -massen, Verbindungsarten zwischen den Bauteilschichten, die Materialzusammensetzung, Nutzungsdauer und die End-of-Life-Szenarien pro Baustoff. Ein Vergleich der Zertifizierungssysteme anhand der Endergebnisse für einen Berechnungsdurchgang hat sich als nicht aussagekräftig erwiesen, sodass die Methodik auf einen Vergleich innerhalb eines Systems angepasst wurde. Drei entwickelte End-of-Life-Szenarien bilden das Wiederverwendungs- bzw. Recyclingpotenzial für jeden vorkommenden Baustoff zum Stand der Technik heute im ersten Szenario, zum Stand der Technik zum Abbruchszeitpunkt in 50-100 Jahren im zweiten Szenario und zum Stand einer etablierten Kreislaufwirtschaft mit geschlossenen Stoffkreisläufen im dritten Szenario ab. Die Auswertung der kreislaufbezogenen,bewertbaren Kriterien pro System für die drei Szenarien zeigt, dass sich die bewerteten Aspekte der Kreislauffähigkeit grundsätzlich gleichen, jedoch die Umsetzung in Bewertungsmethoden sich stark unterscheiden. Dabei variiert besonders der Betrachtungsumfang innerhalb eines Kriteriums und damit die Detailtiefe und Aussagekraft der Ergebnisse. Obwohl die Eingangsdaten für alle ausgewerteten Kriterien ähnlich sind, werden durch die Bewertung von Parametern mit unterschiedlichen Zielsetzungen und Einstufungen pro System verschiedene Ergebnisse erzielt. Ein direkter Vergleich der Kreislauffähigkeit eines Gebäudes ist somit nicht zwischen verschiedenen Zertifizierungssystemen möglich.

This thesis examines the mapping of circular aspects of a building in existing sustainability certification systems. The motivation behind this lies in the increasing relevance of circular concepts and their implementation in the construction industry in view of the evolving requirements at a political and legal level. The first part of the thesis therefore provides a brief overview of the current status of legal and political frameworks in the context of circular economy at European and national level. In the second part, a total of six certification systems are presented and analysed for their consideration of circularity-related aspects. The reporting framework Level(s), the certification system of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), the Sustainable Building Rating System (BNB), the klimaaktiv building certification, the Leadershipin Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system and the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) were analysed. A total of 14 criteria and 8sub-criteria relating to circularity were identified across all systems, of which 11 and one subcriterion were categorised as quantifiable and 9 as assessable within the scope of this work. In order to be able to analyse the individual certification systems more precisely with regard tothe mapping of circularity on the basis of the selected criteria, an evaluation of these criteria isnecessary as a first step. A case study was carried out for this purpose, where by the criteria were analysed with the help of a project provided. The input data required from the project included component structures/surfaces/masses, connection types between the component layers, material composition, service life and end-of-life scenarios for each building material. A comparison ofthe certification systems based on the final results for one calculation run did not prove to be meaningful, so the methodology was adapted to a comparison within a system. Three developedend-of-life scenarios illustrate the reuse and recycling potential for each building material at the state of the art today in the first scenario, at the state of the art at the time of demolition in 50-100 years in the second scenario and at the state of an established circular economy with closed material loops in the third scenario. The evaluation of the cycle-related, assessable criteriaper system for the three scenarios shows that the aspects of circularity that are assessed are fundamentally the same, but the implementation in the evaluation methods differs greatly. This varies the scope of consideration within a criterion and thus the depth of detail and significance of the results. Although the input data is similar for all criteria analysed, different results are achieved by evaluating parameters with different objectives and classifications for each system.A direct comparison of the circularity of a building is therefore not possible between different building certificates.
