dc.description.abstract

dc.description.abstract
The purpose of this master thesis is the development of a novel triaxial soft tissue testing device. This testing device is part of a scientific project called “LAESIO” conducted by the institute for biomechanics of the technical university of Graz. The main objective of the project is a deeper understanding of complications following coronary stent implantations. Especially the damage mechanisms provoked by the indentations inside the tissue through coronary stents implantations are of great interest. These damage mechanisms should be described through a mathematical damage model. In order to achieve such a damage model experimental data is needed. At this point the test rig comes to action. It induces artificial damages similar to these occurring whilst the coronary stent implantation and triggers thereby damage mechanisms. These mechanisms change the mechanical properties of the arterial tissue and are recorded by the test rig. In the aftermath these recordings form the base of the mathematical damage model. The actual product development process is done according to the VDI-Guideline 2221.
