StadtParterre Wien | Rom : die Nutzungspotenziale der Erdgeschoßzonen in Abhängigkeit des korrelierenden Straßenraumes

Abstract

Meine Arbeit hat einen thematischen Bezug zum FWF-Forschungsprojekt „StadtParterre, Wien“ von der Architektin und Stadtplanerin Angelika Psenner. Sie umschreibt den Begriff StadtParterre als die ganzheitliche städtische Erdgeschoßzone mit all ihren umbauten und nicht umbauten Arealen (Straße, Erdgeschoß, Hof). Der aktuelle Zustand des StadtParterres in Bezug auf den Rückgang der halböffentlichen Nutzungen der Erdgeschoßzone stellt eine Problematik dar, die uns Stadtplaner und Architekten zu einer wichtigen Aufgabe führt. Der richtige Umgang mit diesem Problem ist von enormer Bedeutung für das zukünftige Funktionieren der Städte. In meiner Arbeit befasse ich mich mit der Bebauungsstruktur und der Erdgeschoßnutzung von Wien und Rom. Die Grundlage für das Verständnis der Stadtstruktur ist ein Forschungsaufenthalt in Rom um Daten zu sammeln und aktuelle Gegebenheiten vor Ort zu erheben. Durch die eingehende strukturelle Analyse der städtebaulichen Situation können Rückschlüsse auf eventuell bestehende Zusammenhänge gezogen werden und somit vorhandene Potenziale der Erdgeschoßzone evaluiert werden. Psenner) Die Permeabilität der Fassade ermöglichte früher im Wiener Straßenraum einen übergreifenden Austausch zwischen öffentlichen und halböffentlichen (im privaten Besitz befindend mit einer öffentlichen Nutzung) Sphären. Dies ist in südeuropäischen Städten bis heute noch so und dem soll auf den Grund gegangen werden, um Aufschluss darüber zu erhalten, warum es in Wien nicht mehr der Fall ist.

My work is thematically related to the FWF - research project „StadtParterre, Vienna“ by the architect and city planner Angelika Psenner. She describes the term StadtParterre as the holistic urban ground floor zone with all its cropped and unconverted areas (street, ground floor, courtyard). The current state of the StadtParterre in terms of the decline of the semi-public uses of the ground floor zone is a problem that leads us urban planners and architects to an important task. Proper handling of this problem is of great importance for the future functioning of the cities. I deal with the building structure and the ground floor use of Vienna and Rome. The basis for the understanding of the urban structure is a research stay in Rome for collecting data and for elevating current conditions in the field. The in-depth structural analysis of the urban development situation allows conclusions to be drawn about any existing relationships and thus evaluates existing potentials of the ground floor zone. (see Psenner) In the past, the permeability of the facade enabled an overarching exchange between public and semi-public (privately owned with a public use) sphere in the Viennese street space. This is still the case in Southern European Cities these days and should be investigated to find out why it is no longer the case in Vienna.
