Ziel der Diplomarbeit soll ein Entwurf für eine bauliche Erweiterung des Technischen Museums Wien (TMW) im 14. Bezirk sein. Als Bauplatz soll hierfür das Areal des Gustav Jäger Parks fungieren, welches im Osten direkt an das Museum anschließt. Zunächst soll in einem Analyseteil die historische Entwicklung des denkmalgeschützten Museums bis hin zu seiner heutigen Form erörtert werden. Außerdem soll eine Auseinandersetzung mit der Ausstellungstypologie des TMW Aufschluss darüber geben, welche räumliche Erweiterung sinnvoll und denkbar wäre. Die Erkenntnisse aus dem Analyseteil sollen in weiterer Folge in einem Raumprogramm formuliert und als Entwurf konzipiert werden.

The aim of the diploma thesis is a design for a structural extension of the Technical Museum Vienna (TMW) in the 14th district. The area of the Gustav Jäger Park, which directly adjoins the museum in the east, is to serve as the building site. First, the historical development of the listed museum up to its present form will be discussed in an analysis section. In addition, a discussion of the exhibition typology of the TMW will provide information about which spatial expansion would be sensible and conceivable. The findings from the analysis part will subsequently be formulated in a spatial program and conceived as a draft.
