Abstract:
Existing challenges in policy, practice, and digital innovation, and their integration into Circular Economy (CE) result in a complex undertaking. Currently, not many frameworks for the digital optimization of a building’s End-of-Life (EoL) and its related processes exist. This paper explores the digitalization of the EoL process with blockchain technology, by analysing an applied use case
of a closed loop reuse product in Austria. A blockchain-based solution designed to enhance the verifiability of the reuse process is proposed, by introducing a privacy-preserving zero-knowledge proof application which can increase, among other things, transparency, and trust to promote CE.
