Kreislaufgerechte vertikale Nachverdichtung im urbanen Raum : ein systematischer Ansatz

Abstract

Die globale Erderwärmung ist ein stetig fortschreitender Prozess, der ein konsequentes Handeln im Bausektor verlangt. Themen der Nachhaltigkeit und Kreislaufwirtschaft müssen daher auch in der Architektur eine Voraussetzung und keine Ausnahme sein. Heutzutage getätigte Planungen haben Auswirkungen auf viele nachfolgende Generationen und auf unsere Umwelt. Gleichzeitig unterziehen sich unsere Städte einem ständigen Wandel und einem stetigen Zuwachs. Die Stadt Wien ist davon ebenfalls stark betroffen. Freie Bauflächen sind im urbanen Bereich nahezu nicht mehr vorzufinden. Man muss sich also die Frage stellen, wie eine Stadt innerstädtisch wachsen kann und wo die Potenziale einer Stadt liegen. In diesem Zusammenhang ist es naheliegend, dass man das Potenzial vor allem in bereits bestehenden bauliche Strukturen sucht, welche bisher mit dem Thema der Nachverdichtung sehr wenig in Kontakt getreten sind. Die Rede ist von kommunalen Gebäuden der Nachkriegszeit, speziell der 1950er Jahre.Demnach ist das Ziel dieser Arbeit, ein nachhaltiges und zugleich kreislauffähiges Bausystem zu entwickeln, welches der vertikalen Nachverdichtung von Gemeindebauten der 1950er Jahre dient. Es soll eine Grundlage für Planerinnen und Planer darstellen und die Stadt nachhaltig wachsen lassen.In einem ersten Schritt wurden die Themen der urbanen Nachverdichtung, Nachhaltigkeit und Kreislauffähigkeit von Gebäuden theoretisch aufgearbeitet. Dem folgte eine umfassende Analyse von Gemeindebauten innerhalb von Wien, sowie von Referenzprojekten innerhalb Europas. Um einen Bezug zur gelebten Praxis in Wien herstellen zu können, wurde auf die Methode des Interviews zurückgegriffen.Aufbauend auf all dem zuvor erlangten theoretischen Wissen wurde folgend ein Bausystem zur Aufstockung unter den geforderten Kriterien entwickelt. Um die Umsetzbarkeit dessen bestätigen zu können, erfolgte im letzten Teil die Anwendung in Form eines Entwurfes an einem Beispielprojekt in Wien.Das Ergebnis dessen ist ein nachhaltiges und kreislauffähiges Bausystem in einer Holzhybridlösung, welches ein Zukunftsmodell für vertikale Nachverdichtung von Kommunalbauten der 1950er Jahre darstellt und seriell anwendbar ist. Zudem wird durch eine Bestandssanierung und Aufwertung des baulichen Umfelds ein großer Mehrwert für Bewohnerinnen und Bewohner geschaffen,

Global warming is a constantly advancing process, which requires consistent action in the construction sector. Sustainability and the circular economy must therefore also be a prerequisite and not an exception in architecture. Planning carried out today has an impact on future generations and on our environment.At the same time, our cities are undergoing constant change and growth. The city of Vienna is also strongly affected by this. Free building land is almost non-existent in urban areas. Hence, the question how a city can grow within the city has to be adressed and the potentials of a city have to be identifiedIn this context, it is obvious that the potential should be sought above all in existing building structures that have so far had very little contact with the topic of redensification. We are talking about municipal buildings from the post-war period, especially from the 1950s.Therefore, the aim of this work is to develop a sustainable and at the same time recyclable building system that serves the vertical redensification of municipal buildings from the 1950s. It should provide a basis for planners and allow the city to grow sustainably.In a first step, the topics of urban redensification, sustainability and the recyclability of buildings were theoretically examined. This was followed by a comprehensive analysis of municipal buildings within Vienna as well as reference projects within Europe. In order to establish a link to actual practice in Vienna, interviews were used as a method.Building on all the theoretical knowledge previously acquired, a building system for adding storeys was then developed in accordance to the required criteria. In order to be able to confirm the feasibility of this, the final part was application in the form of a design on a sample project in Vienna.The result is a sustainable and recyclable construction system in a timber hybrid solution, which represents a future model for vertical redensification of 1950s municipal buildings and can be used in series. In addition, the refurbishment of existing buildings and the upgrading of the already built environment create major added value for residents
