Die bulgarische Hauptstadt Sofia verfügt in ihrem Zentrum über eine Fülle von Kulturbauten, von denen einige als nationales Kulturerbe anerkannt sind. Dazu gehören die Königlichen Ställe und später die Königliche Garage, die zusammen mit anderen Gebäuden ein wertvolles historisches und kulturelles Erbe bilden. In Anbetracht dessen soll in dieser Arbeit ein alternativer Standort für das Museum von Sofia vorgeschlagen werden. Mit dem Ziel, einen möglichen Erweiterungsplan für das bestehende Gebäude zu erstellen, befasst sich diese Arbeit auch mit der Restaurierung des Bestandsgebäudes und dem Bau eines Ausstellungsgebäudes. Dieser Neubau soll eine Symbiose aus Museum, Bibliothek und Veranstaltungsort darstellen. Trotzdem ist das Gebäude in seiner Nutzungsmöglichkeit nicht eingeschränkt und eine autonome Nutzung der verschiedenen Bereiche ist möglich.

The capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, has an abundance of cultural buildings in its center, some of which are recognized as national cultural heritage. One building as such is the Royal Stables and later to that the Royal Garage which along with others is valuable historical and cultural heritage. In recognition of this, this thesis aims to propose an alternative location for the Museum of Sofia. Additionally, in the aim to provide a potential extension plan for the existing building, this thesis also concerns itself with the restoration and construction of an exhibition building. This novel construction is intended as a symbiosis between museum, library and event venue. Despite this, the building is not limited in its potential use and autonomous use of the different areas is possible.
