Verliebt, verlobt, geschlagen : Ein neues Frauenhaus für Wien

Abstract

Gewalt an Frauen ist auch in der heutigen Gesellschaft ein relevantes Thema das meist jedoch bagatellisiert und kaum angesprochen wird, obwohl eine von fünf Frauen in Österreich sexueller und/ oder körperlicher Gewalt ausgesetzt ist. Diese Diplomarbeit beschäftigt sich mit den Fragen, wie Architektur Frauen und Kinder bei der Aufarbeitung einer Krisensituation dienlich sein kann und wie sie den Genesungsprozess positiv unterstützen kann. Die wissenschaftlichen Grundlagen für die Analyse und Projektplanung liefert neben Literaturrecherchen auch ein Besuch eines Frauenhauses. Im November 2018 erschien im „Standard“ ein Artikel, der berichtete, dass in Wien ein Frauenhaus mit 50 Plätze errichtet werden soll. Damit wird eine Europaratsrichtlinie umgesetzt, die besagt dass ein Platz im Frauenhaus pro 10.000 Einwohner geschaffen werden soll. Das geplante Bauobjekt knüpft an den Standard Artikel an und plant eine Frauenhaus in Wien, das jedoch keine übliche Unterkunft ist, sondern unter anderem eine große Flexibilität bietet , die den Bedürfnissen der Frauen und Kinder angepasst ist.

Violence against women is also a relevant topic in today's society, but it is usually trivialised and hardly addressed, although one in five women in Austria is exposed to sexual and/or physical violence. This diploma thesis deals with the questions of how architecture can help women and children to come to terms with a crisis situation and how it can positively support the recovery process. The scientific basis for the analysis and project planning is provided by literature research and a visit to a women's shelter.In November 2018, an article appeared in the "Standard" reporting that a women's shelter with 50 places is to be built in Vienna. This will implement a Council of Europe directive that states that one place in a women's shelter should be created per 10,000 inhabitants. The planned building project follows on from the Standard article and plans a women's shelter in Vienna, which, however, is not a usual shelter but, among other things, offers a great deal of flexibility that is adapted to the needs of women and children.
