Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit den zugrundeliegenden architektonischen Eigenschaften von Erinnerung und nutzt das Medium Film, um diese zu erörtern. Der Erinnerungsprozess ist ein zentrales Element des Kinos und konstituiert sowohl die Entstehung als auch die Perzeption von Filmen, was das bewegte Bild zu einem geeigneten Mittel (device) für dieses Unterfangen macht. Nach der Einführung grundlegender und operativer Begriffe werden Facetten, die sowohl das Thema Erinnerung als auch Film betreffen, artikuliert und erläutert. Im darauffolgenden Teil der Arbeit werden diese Facetten dann in einem konfigurativen Schritt miteinander in Beziehung gesetzt. Einzelne Filme werden ausgewählt, um die artikulierten Begriffe anhand von ihnen zu diskutieren und folglich Proportionen unter ihnen zu finden.Hierbei geht es nicht um die Erstellung einer Taxonomie und um das Erarbeiten synthetischer Lösungen, sondern um die Annäherung an ein architektonisches System, das die ungreifbaren Eigenschaften von Erinnerung aufrechterhält, ohne ihr Grenzen aufzuerlegen oder statische Attribute zuzuschreiben. Anstatt in einen fachspezifischen Diskurs zu verfallen, stattet das filmische Mittel Erinnerung mit einer Trajektorie aus und erhält dadurch ihre dynamischen Charakteristika aufrecht.

This thesis examines the underlying architectonic properties of memory and uses cinema as a medium to discuss them. The memory process is a central element in cinema and constitutes both how films are crafted and perceived which makes the moving image an appropriate device for this undertaking. After establishing fundamental and operative terms, facets pertaining to both memory and film are being articulated and explicated. In the subsequent part of the thesis, those facets are then being set in relation to one another in an act of configuration. Individual films are being selected to discuss the articulated terms through them and consequently to find proportions between them.The goal here is not to create a taxonomy and arrive at synthetic resolutions but to approach the setup of an architectonic system that upkeeps the intangible properties of memory without imposing bounds or ascribing static attributes upon it. Instead of finding solutions through delving into subject-specific discourse, the cinematic device utilized equips memory with a trajectory and upholds its dynamic nature.
