Vernakuläre Architektur im Burgenland im Wandel

Abstract

Die gegenständliche Masterarbeit beschäftigt sich mit regionstypischer, vernakulärer Architektur im Burgenland mit Blick einerseits auf bau- und regionstypologische Charakteristika und andererseits auf ihre Veränderungen mit Bezugnahme auf ökologische, soziale und wirtschaftliche Einflussfaktoren. Der Frage, wie weit bestimmte regionstypische Architekturen als zirkuläre Architekturen zu bewerten sind, wird hierbei besondere Beachtung geschenkt. Besonders bestimmten umweltbezogenen und naturräumlichen Einflüssen wie dem Klima, oder der lokalen und regionalen Verfügbarkeit von Material- und Fachkräfteressourcen wird hierbei Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wird die Frage nach dem Einfluss dieser Faktoren auf die Genese und Veränderung der betreffenden Architekturen – letztere mit einem zeitlichen Schwerpunkt seit der Nachkriegszeit bis heute – gestellt.Der bauliche Fokus liegt dabei auf für Wohnzwecke genutzten Gebäudeteilen von ländlich-bäuerlichen Bauten, welche bürgerlichen Wohnhäusern gegenübergestellt werden, um Parallelen oder Kontroversen in der Entwicklung und Veränderung wirtschaftlich und sozial unterschiedlich geprägter Architekturen zu erklären. Anhand von Bestandsaufnahmen und mittels eines für diese Aufgabenstellung standardisierten Interview-Fragenkataloges sollen aktuelle bautechnische und soziale Tendenzen der Veränderung erkannt werden – beispielsweise bezogen auf die Veränderung im thermischen Komfort der Bewohner und Bewohnerinnen, auf den Wandel im Konsum von Architektur und der Bedeutung von regionstypischen Handwerkstechniken. Anhand gewonnener Erkenntnisse werden bauliche Veränderungsmaßnahmen analysiert und bestimmte Tendenzen der Veränderung sichtbar gemacht.Die Masterarbeit wird inhaltlich durch das ERC-Forschungsprojekt 101088693 CLIMATE-Arch (Climate and Contemporary Transformations of Vernacular Architecture - Interaction, Effects and Perspectives) unterstützt.

This master›s thesis deals with vernacular architecture typical of the region in Burgenland, with a view on the building typologies and regional typological characteristics on the one hand and their changes, with reference to ecological, social and economic influencing factors, on the other hand. Particular attention is paid to the question of the extent to which certain regionally typical architectures can be assessed as circular architectures. Particular attention is paid to certain environmental and natural influences such as the climate, or the local and regional availability of material and skilled labor resources. In the context of this work, the question of the influence of these factors on the genesis and change of the architectures in question - the changes concerned with a temporal focus from the post-war period to the present day - is asked.The structural focus is on parts of rural-farm buildings used for residential purposes, which are compared with middle-class residential buildings in order to explain parallels or controversies in the development and change of economically and socially different architectures. Based on structural surveys and a standardized interview questionnaire for this task, current structural and social trends of change are to be identified - for example, in relation to the change in the thermal comfort of the residents, the change in the consumption of architecture and the importance of regional craft techniques.
