Using a double-ridged horn antenna as a case study, this paper examines the accuracy of a previously proposed pattern stitching method with directional antennas. Using various mounting configurations, scaled mean square error (SMSE) levels between –30 dB and –40 dB were achieved. When considering only the relevant parts of the truncated patterns used for stitching, the SMSE values were reduced by an additional 10 dB or more. Furthermore, a comparison with omnidirectional antennas has shown that the directional AUT achieves approximately 6 dB lower SMSE values.
