Ein lebendiger Raum für Kultur, Bildung und interkulturellen Austausch – Das Kulturzentrum Prnjavor

Abstract

Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Entwurf eines Kulturzentrums in Prnjavor, Bosnien und Herzegowina, einer Stadt mit einer reichen multikulturellen Geschichte, die oft als „Kleines Europa“ bezeichnet. Ziel des Projekts ist es, einen lebendigen Treffpunkt zu schaffen, der verschiedene soziale und kulturelle Gruppen zusammenbringt und den Besuchern ganztägig vielfältige Aktivitäten bietet. Das Gebäude ist als offener, multifunktionaler Raum konzipiert, der kulturelle, soziale und bildende Funktionen verbindet. In der Nähe des Kulturzentrums befindet sich eine Schule, welche nicht genügend Raum für außerschulische Aktivitäten hat, weshalb die beiden Einrichtungen eng zusammenarbeiten sollen. Tagsüber orientiert sich die Nutzung an den Bedürfnissen der Schule, indem zusätzliche Räume für Unterrichtsergänzungen, kreative und sportliche Aktivitäten sowie schulische Veranstaltungen bereitstellt werden. Am Nachmittag und Abend dient das Gebäude als Treffpunkt für lokale Verbände, Vereine und die Öffentlichkeit. Die flexible Raumgestaltung ermöglicht eine vielseitige Nutzung der Flächen, sodass die Funktionen je nach Bedarf angepasst werden können. Neben einer Mehrzweckhalle im Erdgeschoss, die sowohl für schulische, als auch für öffentliche Veranstaltungen genutzt werden kann, stehen in den oberen Etagen vielseitige Räume für Bildung, kreative Entfaltung und gemeinschaftliche Aktivitäten zur Verfügung. Somit soll das Zentrum einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur kulturellen und sozialen Entwicklung der Stadt leisten.

This thesis presents a draft of a cultural centre in Prnjavor, a town in Bosnia and Herzegovina, often called “the little Europe” due to its rich multicultural heritage. The aim of the project is to create a lively hub that brings together diverse social and cultural groups and offers various activities to its visitors. The building is conceptualised as an open multifunctional space with cultural, social, and bonding functions for the community. Furthermore, the institution is intended to work close with a school in its immediate vicinity, as the latter does not possess sufficient space for extracurricular activities. During the day, the use of the cultural centre is primarily targeted towards the needs of the school, and can offer venues for students’ creative endeavours, sports activities, as well as supplementary class activities. In the afternoons and later in the evenings, the centre becomes a public space to be used by local clubs, citizens’ associations, and similar groups. The flexible design enables versatile use of the building’s areas, in that these can be adapted to fit the needs of its users. In addition to the multifunctional hall on the ground floor that can be used both for school and public events, upper floors provide rooms for various purposes, including education, creative processes, as well as common activities. Thereby, the cultural centre can considerably contribute to the social and cultural development of the town.
