Entwicklung eines Bewertungsmodells zur Messung des nachhaltigen Erfolgs von Car-Sharing-Unternehmen

Abstract

Der stetig wachsende Individualverkehr in urbanen Gebieten führt zu einer zunehmenden Belastung durch Staus, Lärm und Schadstoffemissionen. Städte stehen vor der Herausforderung, nachhaltige Mobilitätslösungen zu fördern, um Verkehrsprobleme zu reduzieren und Umweltziele zu erreichen. Car-Sharing stellt eine vielversprechende Alternative zum privaten Autobesitz dar und wird als ein Modell definiert, bei dem Nutzer:innen Fahrzeuge gemeinschaftlich und bedarfsorientiert nutzen, anstatt sie selbst zu besitzen. Car-Sharing gewinnt weltweit an Bedeutung, vereint ökologische, soziale und wirtschaftliche Vorteile und trägt zu einer ressourcenschonenden und effizienteren Mobilität bei. Dennoch stehen Car-Sharing-Unternehmen vor der Herausforderung, langfristig erfolgreich zu sein. Aktuelle Entwicklungen sind von Rückgängen und Zusammenschlüssen geprägt. Die Unternehmen sind häufig nicht nachhaltig erfolgreich. Ebendieser Problematik widmet sich diese Arbeit. Ziel ist es, ein umfassendes Bewertungsmodell zur Beurteilung des nachhaltigen Erfolgs von Car-Sharing-Unternehmen zu entwickeln. Die Arbeit baut auf dem Design-Science Ansatz auf, welcher die Entwicklung eines Artefakts voraussetzt. In dieser Arbeit wird das Artefakt in Form des Bewertungsmodells entwickelt. Als Basis wird eine Systematische Literaturrecherche zur Identifikation relevanter Einflussfaktoren durchgeführt. Es werden 13 Geschäftsbereiche mit 41 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) identifiziert, die durch 118 Bewertungsfragen, welche angelehnt an eine Likert-Skala beantwortet werden, operationalisiert werden. Die Indikatoren decken ökonomische, ökologische und soziale Aspekte ab und ermöglichen eine systematische Beurteilung der Unternehmen. Zur Entwicklung des Bewertungsmodells wurden bestehende wissenschaftliche Ansätze analysiert, und im Zuge einer iterativen Validierung Expert:innengespräche geführt. Das entwickelte Bewertungsmodell wird schlussendlich an zwei Unternehmen angewandt, welche beide als nachhaltig erfolgreich beurteilt werden, aber dennoch Verbesserungspotenziale aufweisen.Das Bewertungsmodell bietet eine praxisnahe Orientierung für Car-Sharing-Anbieter, Investoren und politische Entscheidungsträger, um die langfristige Nachhaltigkeit und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit von Car-Sharing-Konzepten fundiert einzuschätzen. Die Arbeit leistet somit einen Beitrag zur Weiterentwicklung nachhaltiger Mobilitätsstrategien und unterstützt eine datenbasierte Entscheidungsfindung in einem dynamischen Marktumfeld.

The steady growth in private transport in urban areas is leading to increasing congestion, noise and pollutant emissions. Cities face the challenge of promoting sustainable mobility solutions in order to reduce traffic problems and achieve environmental goals. Car-sharing is a promising alternative to private car ownership and is defined as a model in which users use vehicles collectively and on an as-needed basis instead of owning them themselves. Car-sharing is gaining in importance worldwide, combining environmental, social and economic benefits and contributing to resource-saving and more efficient mobility. Nevertheless, car-sharing companies face the challenge of being successful in the long term. Current developments are characterized by declines in business and mergers. The companies are often not successful in the long term. This work is dedicated to precisely this problem. The aim is to develop a comprehensive evaluation model for assessing the sustainable success of car-sharing companies. The work is based on the design science approach, which presupposes the development of an artifact. In this thesis, the artifact is developed in the form of an evaluation model. As a basis, a systematic literature review is carried out to identify relevant influencing factors. 13 business areas with 41 key performance indicators (KPIs) are identified, which are operationalized through 118 evaluation questions, which are answered based on a Likert scale. The indicators cover economic, ecological and social aspects and enable a systematic assessment of the companies. To develop the evaluation model, existing scientific approaches were analysed and expert interviews were conducted as part of an iterative validation process. The evaluation model developed was ultimately applied to two companies, both of which were judged to be sustainably successful, but still have potential for improvement. The evaluation model offers a practical orientation for car-sharing providers, investors and political decision-makers to make a well-founded assessment of the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of car-sharing concepts. The work thus contributes to the further development of sustainable mobility strategies and supports data-based decision-making in a dynamic market environment.
