Raum für vielfältige Kunstarten : Zentrum für darstellende Kunst, Sofia

Abstract

Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit widmet sich dem Thema der Umnutzung, Revitalisierung und Erweiterung eines ehemaligen Heizkraftwerkes im Zentrum der bulgarischen Hauptstadt Sofia, in unmittelbarer Nähe des Nationalen Kulturpalastes. Die Umgestaltung und Erweiterung des Gebäudes zielt darauf ab, die umliegende Grünfläche des Parks auf das Projektareal auszudehnen und einen multifunktionalen Raum für verschiedene Kunstformen, kreative Projekte sowie soziale und Freizeitaktivitäten zu schaffen. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt liegt in der Ergänzung der Wegeführung, welche bestehende und zukünftige Funktionen verbinden und gleichzeitig eine repräsentative und erlebnisreiche Wirkung auf das gesamte Areal ausstrahlen soll. Die Revitalisierung und Anpassung des Bestandes an die heutigen Bedürfnisse und Gegebenheiten kann zu einer Reaktivierung des Gebietes führen. Die Integration moderner architektonischer Elemente in die bestehende Struktur des Heizkraftwerks soll zu einer Transformation des Ortes führen, welche die kulturelle Identität der Stadt Sofia stärkt und neue Impulse für ihre zukünftige Entwicklung setzt.

This diploma thesis concerns the conversion, revitalisation and extension of a former thermal power station in the centre of Sofia, the Bulgarian capital, in the immediate vicinity of the National Palace of Culture. The redesign and extension of the building is driven by the objective of expanding the surrounding green space of the park to the project area, thereby creating a multifunctional space for various art forms, creative projects, as well as social and leisure activities. Another key focus area is the completion of the pathways, which will link existing and future functions and simultaneously create a visually appealing and engaging environment for the entire area. The revitalisation and adaptation of the existing buildings to contemporary local needs and conditions has the potential to catalyse the reactivation of the area. The integration of contemporary architectural elements into the extant structure of the thermal power station is expected to result in a transformation of the site that will serve to strengthen the cultural identity of the city of Sofia and provide new impetus for its future development.
