Kletterhalle Schladming - Dachstein

Abstract

Ziel dieser Diplomarbeit ist der Entwurf einer Kletterhalle in Schladming, zur Stärkung der Tourismusregion Schladming-Dachstein und zur Angebotserweiterung für Einheimische. Die Region Schladming-Dachstein ist bekannt für ihren Wintertourismus, aber auch der Sommertourismus, sowie die Nebensaisonen erfreuen sich immer größerer Beliebtheit. Über die Jahre hinweg wurde das Angebot der örtlichen Klettersteige stark ausgebautund damit ein weiteres Standbein im Tourismus geschaffen, welcher von der Ergänzung um eine Kletterhalle profitieren kann. Durch den fortschreitenden Klimawandel und die unsichere Schneelage in der Region, ist ein Fokus auf wetterunabhängige Sportaktivitäten geboten und eine entsprechende Angebotserweiterung schafft zusätzlich die Möglichkeit Schladming als Austragungsort für Kletterwettkämpfe (auch für paraolympische Disziplinen)in Stellung zu bringen. Die Ökologische Nachhaltigkeit im Klettersport, vor allem in Hinblick auf den sensiblen Umgang mit der Natur im alpinen Gelände, wirft die zentrale Frage auf – wie lässt sich die Nachhaltigkeit des Outdoor-Klettersports auf eine Kletterhallen-Architektur übertragen?Die Arbeit gibt im Wesentlichen einen kurzen Blick über die Region Schladming-Dachstein, ihren Tourismus, ihre sportliche Relevanz und das Thema Klettersport. Der Entwurf ist auf einem zentrumsnahen Grundstück mit fußläufiger Nähe zum Bahnhof situiert, um eine bestmögliche Erreichbarkeit zu gewährleisten. Mit Schwerpunkt auf ökologische Nachhaltigkeit, durch bedachte Materialwahl und Konstruktion, sowie einem sinnvollen Ressourcenmanagement, natürlicher Belüftung und Beleuchtung und einem sensiblen Umgang mit Dach-, und Freiflächen. Die Kletterhalle besticht durch ihre klare Struktur und Gebäudeform mit stetigen Sichtbeziehungen innerhalb des Gebäudes, der Natur und Berglandschaft, um eine bestmögliche Atmosphäre zu schaffen, welche zusammen mit einem durchdachten Raumprogramm, einer hybriden Gebäudenutzung, sowie einem vielseitigen Kletterangebot ein maximales Klettererlebnis schafft.

The aim of this diploma thesis is a design for a climbing hall situated in Schladming, to strengthen the tourist region Schladming-Dachstein and to expand the range of offers for locals. The region Schladming-Dachstein is known for its winter tourism, as well summer tourism and the off-seasons are becoming increasingly popular. Over the years, the range of local via ferratas has been expanded and another mainstay in tourism has been created, which could benefit from the addition of a climbing hall. Due to the progressive climate change, as well the uncertain snow conditions in the region, a focus on weatherindependent sport activities is required and a corresponding expansion of the offer also creates the opportunity to position Schladming as a venue for climbing competitions (also forparalympic disciplines). The ecological sustainability in climbing sports, especially regarding to the sensitive approach of nature in alpine terrain, raises the central question – how can the sustainability of outdoor climbing be transferred to the architecture of a climbing hall? The thesis essentially gives a brief overview of the region Schladming-Dachstein, its tourism with its sporting relevance and of climbing in general. The design is situated on a property close to the centre and nearby the local trainstation, to provide an easy and conveniend access . The emphasis on ecological sustainability, through careful choice of material andconstruction, as well as a sensible resource management, natural ventilation and lighting and a sensitive approach to roof and open spaces. The climbing hall impresses with its clear structure and building shape, with constant visual axis within the building, nature, and the mountain landscape, to create the best possible atmosphere, which, together with a well-thought-out room program, a hybrid building use and a wide range of climbing offers, creates a maximum climbing experience.
